OLYMPIC TORCHES AND MEDALS  AND  RARE  ARTIFACTS  ON  DISPLAY  IN  THE  MUSEUM

TO SEE PICTURES OF OUR OLYMPIC TORCHES AND MEDALS, GO TO OUR PHOTO GALLERIES.

It gives us great pleasure to have on display interesting and hard to get items like Olympic Torches, Winners and Participation Medals, Official Badges given to the Athletes, Coaches, Judges, Media, Press, Television, Broadcasters, Radio, Chefs de Mission, NOC Officials, IOC Officials, IOC Invitees and Guests, as well as several Service Officials and others, which I have also collected, including IOC Session Badges and many Lapel Pins collected by attending Olympics for many years, starting with the first ones when I was ten years old in 1936 at Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Berlin. And Olympic Torches have been particularly my most interesting artifacts for me, because of the excitement I experienced when I attended four Olympic Torch Ceremonies and Torch Relays of the 1936 Berlin Olympics and received my first Olympic Torch from my uncle. Witnessing the first Torch Ceremony in Olympia and walking through the sites of the ancient temples and the Altis made such great impression on me, when I was ten years old, that I put special emphasis in collecting Olympic Torches since then and also when I was honored three times to be a Torchbearer. The Official Olympic Torches, Medals and Badges are a most wonderful and interesting part of our museum and although we do not have a lot of Winners Medals yet, we have a fairly complete collection of Olympic Torches and relating items like the Torchbearers Uniforms and Diplomas, participant medals since the first Olympics in 1896, including the two I was given for participation in the 1948 London and 1952 Helsinki Olympics, the Winners Medals and Official Badges given to Athletes and Officials, rare official team patches, personal Identification cards and documents, Winners Diplomas and some other very rare artifacts.
